Exceeding Expectations: Should You Focus On It?

Amaze your customers – that’s important- however, to exceed their expectations should be your ultimate priority!

This article emphasizes the fact that it’s more important to concentrate on fulfilling the expectations of all your clients rather than to try to “wow” only a few. As a company, you must understand the expectations of your customers before attempting to fill in the gaps. To achieve this, you will need to put in place a program that measures customer experience. The analysis of the results will allow you to chart your performance in customer satisfaction, in addition to identifying the causes of dissatisfaction. The quantitative data allows you to evaluate the performance, whereas the qualitative data will provide you with significant feedback. Afterwards, you need to compare your performance in perspective with the expectations of your customers. You will then be able to determine if the service that you offer meets these expectations.

The author strongly suggests that you perform this analysis on a continuous basis since the expectations of your customers are constantly evolving and therefore, your means to fulfill them must evolve accordingly. As several studies demonstrate, consistency is paramount to the satisfaction of your customers.
