How to manage your local presence during COVID-19

The recent news about the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world forces us to change our habits and react quickly to announcements and restrictions put in place by the governments.

PUBLITECH’s local SEO specialists wish to offer useful tips and techniques in order to manage your local presence in these times of crisis.

Update your local pages

Make sure the information on your local pages is accurate and up to date, whether on your website or on the various online directories where you are present.

  • Opening hours of local stores
  • Store closings
  • Description of your business to explain how your commercial operations are affected

Knowing that limitations or delays may occur in your requests for changes to Google (link to Michel’s Blog), it is essential to ensure that all online directories are updated. By using LOCALTRAC, you ensure that all of your listings are kept up to date and accurate.

Be present in Social Media

Social medias can be a powerful tool to keep local customers informed, especially when constant email updates can seem overwhelming during such a delicate time. We recommend using Posts to:

  • Notify customers of any changes in your hours of operations.
  • Inform your customers about your commercial operations or available services such as: phone orders, online orders, mobile orders, delivery only, etc.
  • Highlight delivery options for your customers, whether you provide delivery services yourself or rely on a third party.
  • Communicate your policies and procedures ensuring the health and safety of your employees and customers.
  • Share the most recent updates on services or operations in your business.

Take advantage of Google’s new COVID-19 Posts status

  • Google now offers a new functionality when publishing a Post to help you keep your customers quickly up to date. You can add messages as your situation evolves (closing, reduced hours, delivery options, etc.).

Manage your reputation

Even if Google paused posting or answering new reviews online, other online directories remain active. It is therefore essential to keep monitoring your reputation.

Do not hesitate to contact our specialists for any questions you may have regarding your local online presence. By email or phone at 1-866-333-5265.
